Plantation Estates-Honolua Ridge Real Estate & Information

Plantation Estates and Honolua Ridge are twin paradises located side by side in the pristine Kapalua Resort area. This Western Maui destination situated at the confluence of cerulean waters, endless horizons and rolling green contains some of Maui's most sought-after, fresh and exclusive real estate. Homes and vacant lots range from 2 to 7 acres, and owners are free to construct units according to personal taste.

Kapalua Resort is also a bright spot in north Lahaina, Western Maui's largest Census Designated Place, the original capitol of the Kingdom of Hawaii and once the center of the international whaling industry. Today, roughly 12,000 people call Lahaina's 7 square miles home, and its stunning scenery, rich culture, traditions and art in addition to its shopping and dining evoke a thoroughly modern Eden.

Shopping and Dining

Lahaina's restaurant and retail scene is a diverse mixture of rustic, fine and eclectic. The Plantation House at the Plantation Golf Course serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, pampering residents and guests with a unique Hawaiian and Mediterranean fusion that relies heavily upon local ingredients.

The Kapalua Ritz-Carlton is only a stone's throw, and the Banyan Tree, the Beach House, the Pool Bar and Kai Sushi are four of its six award-winning eateries.

Golf lovers who require a few items don't have to look further than the Plantation and Bay golf shops. Not too far away, the Honolua Store is a one-stop-shopping heaven to the locals, with everything from apparel and cosmetics to wine, cheese and groceries. An in-store espresso bar keeps shoppers fueled and inspired.

Parks and Recreation

Residents of Plantation Estates and Honolua Ridge have reduced rates at the Kapalua Tennis Garden, the Bay Course and the Plantation Golf Course, home to the Hyundai Tournament of Champions.

Courses encompass the natural contours and wonders of the West Maui Mountains and provide breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. Guests can reserve tee time in advance, or take classes at the Kapalua Golf Academy.

Other Kapalua outdoor attractions include a network of ziplines spanning gulches in the West Maui Mountains, hiking trails, the locally renowned Spa Montage and, of course, beaches.

Near Kapalua, in greater Lahaina, there are many parks and beaches, including the Lahaina Recreation Center, which has picnic areas, barbecue grills, an aquatics center, playgrounds, courts and fields for various sports. The D.T. Fleming Beach Park is a popular surfing destination.

Living

Plantation Estates and Honolua Ridge are the definition of leisure, where sunlight, comfort and refinement are standard. Kapalua's population is just under 500, as of 2015, so space and services are never congested, while the best of small town beauty and neighborliness reigns.

Kapalua's low unemployment and high graduation rates augment its inherent grace and its appeal to people who appreciate luxury. The median home price is about $1 million, and discreet celebrity mansions are not uncommon.

Schools, Healthcare, and Transportation

32 elementary, middle and high schools comprise Maui County's School District, four of which are located in Lahaina. Most of the schools offer Peer Assistance & Leadership programs during the school year and the summer in addition to stimulating, caring, guided supervision in the A+ program. PALS exposes kids to music, culture, arts, crafts and sports.

Kapalua residents have many health care options despite Kapalua's size. The Maui District Health Office overseas community mental health, family health, environmental health and services for individuals with disabilities. The Maui Memorial Medical Center and the Kihei-Wailea Medical Center both offer general, comprehensive medical services to the community at large.

Kapalua residents can get to the local hospital, the Kahului Airport, the Kapalua Airport or any other destination by a variety of modes. A private shuttle conveys guests between Kahului and most major lodges on Maui.

Pre-arranged ground transit, taxis and car rentals are fairly common. Lahaina is roughly 20 miles from Kahului Airport via Honoapiilani Highway. Inter-island ferries allow visitors and locals to visit neighboring islands in less than half a day.
